He won-over top industry judges with his trend setting icy blonde, pistachio brunette and rich red beauties.

John truly believes and continues to prove that hair color should be a unique and individual as the canvas that wears it.

Updo for long hair and hairstyles can be used for all kinds of events including formal, wedding, prom, party or holiday events.

My friends at I.C.O.N. BEAUTY LAB in Los Angeles opened their doors and let us film them doing a few SIMPLE and EASY Updos to help you give your clients the look they want for holiday parties!

In part one, Abdon Vargas shows you an Updo made with Influential Styling. A Way to Look Like Yourself

A Texas hair stylist knows what it’s like to go through a hair loss experience – and she’s using that knowledge to help other women in the same circumstances get back to normal – or as close to normal as they can be.

With a 26 year career wielding hair shears, listening to her clients – and then battling hairloss herslef during a thyroid problem, Shelly Beatty is helping women with a new line of wigs called “Look Like Myself.” 

The program is an extension of the salon where she works, and it offers consultations to women losing their hair to medical reasons, and ensures they end up with a hair solution that is customized and doesn’t look like a stereotypical wig.

Meanwhile, Beatty’s hair has grown back, but she continues to help women deal with hair loss like she did. The salon has roughly six to 10 consultations each week with women who are seeking help for thin or lost hair. From wigs that give a client a full head of hair, to small partial hair replacement pieces, called Reprieves, there are hair solutions for every woman, Beatty said.

Providing guidance to women is something that Beatty learned from personal experience as well as from extensive training specifically in wigs and Reprieves – so she brings additional knowledge to the table as well. She said many women are intimidated when they are seeking ways to cover their head.

“You need some direction when you do that,” she said. “You’re already scared to death and you already feel bad.”

She’s hoping to eliminate this fear by working with the women who come to her and sharing her own experiences.

Hairstylist is known for creative c...

John Simpson of Lewis Salon put down his hair shears and took up his coloring brush instead, creating this look, as one of several in a colo collection that he said allowed him to re–igninte his creativity. Simpson recently won the Best Haircolor award from the Professional Beauty Association during the 19th annual North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) – the color at left is from his award-winning collection, in which he wove different “stories” of texture and color.

He used brilliant blondes, matte browns and many more techniques to create “something that not only inspires others” but also re-inspired him to get creative with his work. His collection features several photographs of different cuts, color, and style combinations. He showed that often, amazing looks can be created without specific use of shears – hair can be colored and styled expertly!
In the journey from the idea, through the creation of the line, and finally to the award, he said his biggest challenge was to make sure he actually followed through and “did it!”
