ScissorBoy Brand Hair Scissors present the Upside Down Haircut!
Today we bring you Stas Mikhailov from Metamorphosis Salon in San Francisco and his AWESOME technique for an Upside Down Haircut. This gives your clients a fresh new look for the New Year and reinvents your hair cutting techniques. Sounds impossible? Not at all! In this technique, only the clients head is upside down, not you, so headstands are unnecessary. Combining a blend of texturing with overdirecting hair, will create length where you need it. To top it of, create a contour line around the head as the finishing touch. Use any tools you want when using this technique, but we recommend using a pair of thinning shears or a razors.
The end result, is a haircut that grows out beautifully and is very manageable.

Texturizing Hair With Thinning Hair Shears is a great way of completing an otherwise unfinished haircut.
Emmanuel, a Master Stylist from Atelier Emmanuel Hair Salon in San Francisco, California shows how Fixing Layers with Texturizing using thinning shears can add life to a haircut.
To achieve this look, Emmanuel recommends you texturize at different angles (flat, angled, straight into the hair) using what he calls the Piquetage Technique. Use thinning shears to blend layers and create better flow. Check out the video again to see the correct angle he recommends to prevent cutting of too much hair and to see this technique in action. Piquetage should be used at the roots to give lift to the hair. The end effect is shorter hairs supporting the longer hair.
To finish off the cut, Emmanuel demonstrates a Finger Texture technique. Laying hair can create problems, and placing your fingers correctly on the hair helps to prevent that. If a problem does arise, you can fix layer issues with texturing techniques using thinning shears, razors and/or hair shears. Be sure to carefully watch everything that you are doing, as sight is just as important as technique while styling.
